I recommend two options:
First, joining the Coast Guard. Its 4 years including training, you'll get all your housing and food taken care of, you're unlikely to be in danger you'll just be doing rescue missions or stopping drug smugglers or human traffickers, and you get a fuckton of benefits including 4 years of tuition assistance and the GI Bill. You can choose a job that transitions into the civilian world like mechanic, electrician, IT specialist, marine scientist... but options are limited
Second, go to Job Corps. Its for young adults aged 16-24, you'll also get free dorm-styled housing, 3 meals a day, and they have a selection of stuff to choose from and they teach you most everything you need to know. Machinist, accountant, there are IT jobs they train for, etc...
Both are within a 2 hour walking distance.
