For instance, when you first go in, at some point some guy is going to come up to you and say something like "Hey man my name is Joe Smith. What are you doing time for". Punch this guy right in the face and just beat the hell out of him. When the guards come to break it up you just calmly stop fighting and stand there till they take you to isolation. What other inmates saw was you beat a guy and then calmly stop, they see a man who is in control of himself and willing to fight. The answer is not this easy! There's more. When you get out of isolation you have a little credit built up on your reputation. But others are still going to be curious about you. That first guy you beat was just a Gump! So some other guy will come up to you trying to feel you out. When he asks what you're doing time for you look him straight in the eyes and say something like" You writing a book? Well you can just leave that F@#$%&G chapter out of your book!" And walk off. At this point you are waiting for some inmate to come up to you and try to swindle you out of something or set you up. When this guy shows up, ATTACK him! No matter how big he is or how dangerous he looks, don't be a wimp! Give this guy ALL of your anger and frustration! Even if you don't win this fight, you still win creditability on your reputation. In that world respect is gained when a man is willing to put his own life on the line to protect his life! Yes you will piss off the administration by your actions, but the hell with them! They go home after 8 hours, you're there 24/7/365! You have to survive! If you're looking for a non-combative solution to your question there isn't one! Unless you want to join a gang or be a bitch and get yourself a "Daddy" to protect you. Life in prison is not easy!
