He technically is a traitor, betraying the Empire, or the Remnant of the Empire. First Order is Disney garbage. I'm not sure if the child soldier thing is Disney or not. From Stormtrooper to New Republic Hero though could also be shown as redemption or enlightenment in a way. Hard to tell. Poe was not a Lucas character though, he was Disney and wasn't even intentional. Was meant to die in the TIE landing but JJ liked the actor and the actor begged to be given more scenes and not be killed off, so they inserted him back in at the end midway through filming. I also wonder who Kylo originally was. I don't think that was leaked, just Rey and Finn's original incarnations were leaked with a few bits of concept art an synopsis.
