>>16664071It could start or end another ice age, but evaporating the oceans on one side of the earth and causing a pressure wave would be VERY OBVIOUS in the geologic record, all over the earth. Having rainfall increase / decrease (or both) by 300% for a decade or two would be much easier to miss.
Decreasing agricultural output by 30% worldwide would be devastating enough without the Hollywood CGI. 30% less food would mean over TWO BILLION PEOPLE who are now starving. Starving people will to anything to survive, even start nuclear wars, or release (real) global pandemic bio-weapons.
