>>12947874Right, I also often see Parisians complaining about how they have trouble understanding the French dialects outside their region, and some French people don't even consider the language spoken by the Quebecois to be French at all, even though the Quebecois de souche are ethnically French. The whole "United by a common language, culture and ancestry" definition of nation doesn't quite work out for most countries.
>>12947892Ethnic groups are arbitrarily lumped in together when talking about nations, there is rarely an objective scientific reasoning for it. Some people will swear that there is a common German ethnicity even though inside of Germany you see how Bavarians and other groups feud about how they're distinct. Same story for France, Italy, and so many others. The UK, France, Germany, and other European nations are not not nation-states by that definition. Even Japan isn't an ethnic-state with that considered.
