I've tried -- like, helpfully giving basic explanations for things without trying to argue a point at all, and they just doggedly refuse to understand it. It's like trying to argue with someone that there's a difference between multiplication and addition when you're really trying to talk about a physics problem. It's always been a little bit like that, but after the explosion of Trump phoneposters it has become absolutely impossible.
