Celebrities and even corporations are rushing to this boy and trying to make a name off of him, capitalizing on his misfortune, in order to seem like they're the good guys. It's honestly just a PR boost. Because if it wasn't, they wouldn't have to get their own little camera crews and broadcast it to the world.
It's the equivalent of when billionaires give to charities and making entire press events just to tell everyone that they're donating. It's more to do with image than actually helping others for the sake of being a good soul.
