Now as for the question of whether or not Christianity is comparable with Nationalism. Yes, it is. We Christians understand the covenant to have been slowly revealed to man at all fractals, but the previous covenant is not destroyed with the new revelation. For example, the personal covenant to Noah was not abolished upon its extension to his family, then to the Tribe via Abraham, then nation via Moses, then to all the nations (mankind) via Christ.
Therefore, we are called to live in a personal covenant with God, striving to be made righteous and sanctified through His grace, this principal then extends to our family, then extended family/community and also our nation. All are called to be subordinated and made righteous and sanctified through the grace of God. We are not anti nationhood, anymore than we are anti individual or family. We are against making the nation or the individual for that matter, into an idol. I don't just want a nation, I want a righteous and spiritually healthy nation under God.
