I like your idea mainly because the experiment COULD be shifted away from the expected Leftism subverting, and maybe a new thing could start. So if you start that island, we can skip everything after the Golden AGe in scifi and you could create a new Azimov/Heinleinesque society with no previous lane on muh pepe, just regular intelligent, energetic people who could produce a Utopia.
