You get paid by the hour on the clock, not be the tasks performed. It's almost getting completely smarter to not actually work and just avoid it. If they want people to work -- pay for jobs/tasks completed.
They went for hourly pay thinking they can force people into doing so much in a hour, not realizing it just leads to people taking their sweet time or disappearing or not working,
All that matters is the accounting department sees you had hours.
The guy who did all the work and the guy who slacked off all get paid the same if it's hourly or salary.
