Why have a boring grass lawn when you could have your own miniature forest around your house?
We bought some land (1600m2 or 0.4 acres) with an existing shitty old house and a bunch of pines/oaks mostly. Construction on the new house hasn't started yet but I've spent a lot of time on clearing up the ivy and shitty invasive trees so more cool stuff like oaks, birch, ash can grow all over the place.
Also yesterday I started planting ferns everywhere that I dig up in a creek nearby. Going to look so beautiful in a few years and barely any maintenance.
