No matter how much a person changes, they are always bearing the same name, identification and past. Like, you can't just start anew. Objects, on the other hand, are just that - objects. If one were to repair it till it's made out of a brand different material, that wouldn't be the same object anymore, rather a replica, and if it was constantly used during it's metamorphosis, it would just be a total soup of sentiments from different ages of the object.
