So.. the convict decides it is impossible for him to be killed. He can't be killed on Friday, as that would be the last day, so it wouldn't be a surprise (no other day for him to be hung). But... by the same logic he can't be killed on Thursday, and therefore Wednesday, etc.. all the way to Monday.
