During the 30 years from 1958-1987 (Johnny B Goode to INXS), youth dominated culture.
In the late 80s a sort of daytime TV culture formed among old people, especially:
Matlock, TNG, In the Heat of the Night, Murphy Brown, later Walker Texas Ranger.
The money was apparently no longer in the hands of the "youth culture" camp:
During the 90s, even at its onset, youth had NO control over the culture
only children and those who kept them who would actually watch their cartoons WITH them,
which is a VERY good thing.
Poor trailer park kids can't relate to this because they had mullet wearing exer parents
that couldn't buy them shit (and would never do so even if they could),
and neither can those who were rich because it wasn't long till Clinton taxed their asses.
MIDDLE CLASS FAMILIES who let old people watch their kids had things very fucking easy.
I'd watch Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Taz-mania, Tiny Toons, BMTAS, and Rocko at my
babysitter's house on their nice big wooden TV console with brass handles and all the trappings.
Kids could get things from those who kept them,
teens and young adults had no control of the culture (were POOR).
