Elyssa dismissively cuts in before Valari can protest further, and for the first time Nikki notices that these two clearly do not like each other. Or at the very least, Elyssa definitely doesn’t like Valari. Nikki takes a mental note of the observation as Elyssa continues to speak. Might be useful eventually.
“Look, if The Queen is so formidable, why doesn-”
Before Nikki can finish the sentence, Valari suddenly reveals the presence of another soul within Nikki. She freezes, narrowing her eyes at Valari.
>I told you she was looking right at me! She knows we’re not normal! As Coco’s voice resonates in Nikki’s head, The Queen herself silences Valari and steps forward. A slight tremor goes down Nikki’s spine as Victoria Royale’s cold, piercing, purple… wait a minute. Weren’t her eyes blue before? Nikki is sure she didn’t imagine that. And yet, the cold gaze staring not at, but through her, was of a distinct shade of purple.
Between Coco’s presence within Nikki, Valari being able to see her and whatever the reason was for The Queen’s change in eye colour, it dawns on Nikki that not being ‘normal’, as Coco put it, wasn’t exactly a strange thing here. The thought restores Nikki’s confidence somewhat, and she responds to The Queen directly and honestly.
“The demon that I met in my dream seems to think I’m one of her descendants, ok? And like Valari said, there is another person that’s a part of me, her name is Coco. So it’s clear something is… different about me.” Nikki grabs the book, holding it open on the page she was reading and pushing it toward The Queen. “But this book included an account of a woman that lived right here in your Kingdom many years ago that experienced everything I did.”
