I think a lot of people see two options, actually three, none are very appealing. you can either work your ass off at a job that pays you fuck all, or stay at home and stagnate, OR throw hundreds of thousands of dollars for a degree to try and get a better paying job. I'm just saying there are ways outside those three that you can use to better yourself, and people fail to see them.
I agree that the system we have right now is far from perfect, but I don't know of a better one and i doubt you do either.
