It's not just words on a screen. They are deep complex entire concepts thrown around effortlessly through memes. We experience a lot of things together what with happenings and news and all that, that isn't possible in real life.
It's not better or worse, superior inferior, but just a different kind of experience and liaison between two people entirely.
