this is because the new university uses introductory classes to very briefly touch on a huge variety of topics while my old one went much deeper into a smaller amount of topics that were considered vital. that meant that there wasn't any real 1 to 1 conversion for the early classes in each program like there were for some of the upper division ones.
after realizing what a pain the introductory class at the new university was going to be i contacted my advisor with this concern and they asked me to track down all the syllabuses from my old courses and send it to them. once they had that to compile a sort of comprehensive list of all topics i had learned it was pretty obvious that 2 of the classes i was supposed to be taking were going to be really redundant despite not having taken any single class that covered all the information in either.
