>>2626904>Then you proceeded to say anime is cancer, which is negatively judging other people's tastes for no reason.thank you for explaining your viewpoint. really. I genuinely didn't understand before. it's hard to express in text alone but i assure you I have lit up eyes and a newfound understanding of others around me
however, i maintain my position. I feel that anime has cheapened many interests I once held dear by associating mundane items with pretty anime girls, rather than the items themselves.
good examples are Uppote and Kantai Collection -- they have largely replaced enthusiasm towards guns and warships respectively with waifu worship. Where once people appreciated the clean lines and impeccible engineering of G3s, and argued that SA80s are not so bad because they are young bullpups and modern equivalents have fine reliability, the arguments now boil down to which schoolgirl uniform clad drawn maiden is the sexiest.
The same has happened among warships. Rather than arguing the place of a carrier or battleship in modern warfare, people argue over the value of a "battleship" character's tits over a "carrier" character's ass.
It's cheapened most hobbies by directing focus away from the actual hobby towards sexy characters. Anime on its own is not bad, but what it's done to fetishism of warfare, of making video games and video game content, even of just driving cars has been incredibly destructive. There's evne something called the "Tofu Tax" -- to buy a car that has ever appeared in Initial D will bump its Blue Book value up a decade. An 80s Corollla literally costs more than a 90s Corolla despite the 90s model being more powerful AND more reliable AND more useful as a passenger or delivery car.
