Unfortunately in moving some components of /b/ to dedicated boards it lost its appeal. and the culture also was not really passed down to the next generation (probably the fault of people like me who didn't enforce the old rules when their time came). /bant/ is honestly the closest in terms of content to /b/ when I first came on 4chan. ...closest but not really comparable since it doesn't really peek out into the real world now and then like old /b/ did. Now /b/ is just a porn dump board by and large.
