So maybe we could judge them based on that. But it's not like there's any incentive to do that when just observing cold hard data is enough. I suppose aliens would treat us the same and with advancement in science and increasing access to it for the layman, it's also how we treat ourselves. Anyone who spends time online can now write a complex emotionally detached explanation of their own or other's behavior that essentially shifts responsibility to factors outside their control. I guess we need more scientific studies on how coercion and shaming is an essential tool for maintaining a functioning society.
