It's not that someone else wrote the plays. The whole thing is a hoax. There are no verifiable references to either the man or the plays before 1950, when the whole thing was invented - including implanting false references in older documents - by the CIA, as part of the Cold War. The head of the project, Alger Hiss, was later photographed in Dallas in November 1963, though all copies of the photo were destroyed.
