>>23333135Human men have partial selection, if they didn't women wouldn't be obsessed with beauty standards. The fact that you can pick the "prettiest" girl out of a group means you have selection instinct.
Men were likely afforded this selection as an emergent property of males being depended on by females. It's biological function also probably emerged due to fertility regulation.
Men tend to select for traits associated with fertility and having hips wide enough to allow birth.
I'd say our slow birth rate and longer development time meant it couldn't all depend on women dying at childbirth for natural selection to occur. Basically, men try harder for better female picks as to not waste resources and time on inferior females who would likely die at childbirth. Those women would be out competed by their rivals and end up with shittier men and then have failure children if she didn't die at childbirth.
>>23333141>It's not true because it's not common. it's an ongoing process, we aren't selecting to "maintain" a common trait, we're selecting to expand that trait to be more common.
The fact that breasts exist as they are is highly likely to be a result of male selection to begin with, because there is nothing about excessive breast tissue that would be encouraged by natural selection. There are no circumstantial environmental factors that purged the -A-cups from the gene pool, there is nothing about male phenotype that was selected for that just circumstantially caused breasts to develop from estrogen.
The fact that males across the board, even in ass obsessed countries show attraction to boobs, shows it was a male selected trait.
