The kid seemed surprised, taken off guard that I wasn't afraid of his threat. At this moment, when you respond to such a threat, there is a moment of truth where someone either follows through or continues to make a scene but refuses to actually start a fight with you. This kid might have been able to whip my ass, and I knew that, but was fully willing to take that chance after he issued his threat.
>his friend gets in between us
>"He's drunk, he just turned 21 a couple days ago" his friend says
>The belligerent one, I could tell his ego was beginning to be bruised as I stood in front of him after he issued his challenge, in front of his friend, no less
>I could see his fight or flight response going, and he wasn't doing a good job controlling it
>My fight or flight response going as well, as I knew I could be fighting two young men at that very moment
>I've been here before, not my first rodeo, so I remain calm and cool headed
>"Man what's wrong with you?"
>The kid starts pacing around and throwing his hands in the air
>"What do you even do for a living, man?" The kid bellows out in an uncontrolled tone
>At that moment I could tell that I had won, and he was scared, more scared than I was by a good bit, even though I was outnumbered
>He gets more desperate on his attempts to try to come out as the victor in this situation as I stand there watching him throw a tantrum
