>>14025180yeah, doing anything with more than your immediate family always seemed mega cringe to me but for thanksgiving and christmas in particular it's extremely common for people to go across the country so that 3 generations of extended family can hang out which is sickening to me. unfortunately most of my aunts and uncles haven't moved very far from where they grew up, so it's less than a 45 minute drive for all but two of them to get together at me grandma's and they try to do it at pretty much every opportunity they can. once i'm in japen i'll avoid these things because i won't be expected to travel internationally just for christmas, though that sort of thing is extremely common for some reason
