>>9472850>>9472902You do make a good point. Idiots bred the Shepard to have that sloping rear end and it makes them prone to hip displasia. I had to have my last Shepard operated on for hip displasia when he was 5 and had to put him down when he was 12 when he couldn't walk anymore. He didn't have as extreme a sloping stance as that dog does but he was a really big Shepard at well over 100 lbs.
Fortunately modern breeders are trying to undo that damage and get the Shepard breed back to the healthy state it used to be in. But if you're looking to get a Shepard its better to look for one with a more boxy stance, the ones with the sloping rear ends are going to have trouble.
My current dog is a yellow lab and I'll highly recommend labs as well. They're very friendly, unagressive dogs that still make pretty good watch dogs as they bark at unknown noises.
