If they're tracking kids with dispositions as these I think it's more satanic than just them forgetting what was done. They are feeding these kids' spirits to interdimensional beings (demons, mostly) commonly encountered by people who Astral project or have out of body experiences.
They feed off out some kind of soul energy from the experiences I've heard.
