My biggest problem with our military spending right now is we are focusing too much on conventional military inventory like surface vessels in the USN and our Air Force, which take combined 60% of our current military expenditure. When the ships we pump out right now like the Arleigh Burkes is a 30+ year old design, and the F-35A is a massive waste of money for the Air Force since they are expected to get about 1,800 of them, which they do not need, they really need more air superiority fighters and bombers. While the Navy could use more ballistic missile subs and better Naval Carrier fighters. The Army and USMC could use a little more money for better ground vehicles and APCs as well. But the way it usually works in the US military-industrial complex, is the squeaky wheel gets the grease about a decade late. It definitely could be better spent, but the fact that we spend so much somewhat makes up for that.
