It's the inevitable fate of pretty much every board for it to become garbage at some point, so, it's just what it is. This site in particular is pretty far gone, though. I doubt literally any of the topic specific boards would be worth visiting, even if I had interest them. The off-topic ones are shit too, but, I find this place bearable, at least, I guess it's the best I'll get, that I'm allowed to post on.
If you're still looking for some proper discussion about things, maybe you should look over to some altchans. They've also dropped in quality a lot these past couple years or so, but, you're still way more likely to get some real talk around them. The activity is a lot slower, but, it's just a quality over quantity thing, I guess. I think you're type to definitely enjoy it more around those, from what I've gathered talking to you. Maybe you already use them.
