You can go to college or to technical school after middle school, and you can get a license from both (we don't have bachelors degrees, we have licenses like in France). The baccalaureate is instead an exam everyone is required to take.
If you choose to go to high school, you get a useless meme highschool diploma. The only thing that allows you is going to university.
Then you can go and get a license from there, and continue your studies for a master's degree and potentially PhD
