and i disagree that the simple things i listed are just as good now as they were back then. i literally can't imagine a single thing that's on the market right now except for maybe a piece of metal like a knife or a fork lasting for 40 years. anything involving a mechanicsm like a clock or a pepper grinder will be dead in a few years.
