There was a great documentary on BBC about Norwegian art. Among the artists was Lars Hertervig. Apparently the painter spent a while in an insane asylum and was declared a lost cause but he made this kind of masterpieces. Fast forward about two centuries and show me a sane painter who can create something like it.
