Walk taken.
Thankfully, the stealth multiplier still applies. So, you can still one-shot an MiB as long as you're using the prod stick at the highest low-tech skill. (And Combat Strength, I think? But no confirmation on that, you might be able to without it.)
Anyhow, it's a huge blow to the baton in particular. If you don't have master skill level, you can't one-shot common troopers to the head even while in stealth. Which doesn't matter that much in paper, because the torso is there for you to hit still, but the thing is that, again, the hitboxes.
Many times I've been screwed over because the game just decided not to register my hit towards an enemy's torso, and it's just frustrating when it happens. It's not a matter of you being good or bad, simply the game messing up. You can bring down the risk of it happening by making sure to get as close as possible to enemies first and not trying to hit them as they're walking a diagonal line, but it's still an evident flaw. I'll touch on about the hitboxes more later. Know for now that they're just broken.
And since you can barely one-shot common troopers while in stealth, go figure how it is when you have to fight with the baton outside of stealth. You're practically guaranteed to take more than a couple shots, because even at the maximum low-tech skill level and Combat Strength, even the most basic trooper still takes at least 3 hits to take down. (Might be 2? But you don't always land those hits, and not always towards the torso.)
It almost always results in a quick-load if you end up getting in a fight with the baton, because it's just that ineffective. You can get one-shot incredibly easy in realistic difficulty, so, I'd say that there's a 50/50 chance of you getting hit in the head and killed by a common trooper if you try to take him down with the baton. And if there's more than one, you just have to pray really hard. Even with that 360ing tactic I talked about earlier, by the way.
