you dont need loads of protein either.
There is some guys in the mr olimpia and mr universe category, who are vegan and maintain their protein under 100grams a day.
However those who eat a lot of protein oftenly use shakes and powder, because you dont want to eat SO MUCH.
Yes at some point you simply dont want to eat too much all the time. eventho your body easily can handle it.
I mean many bodybbuilders have been fatties before, their bodies handled loads of other shit that passed through. Also that is a reason why many go on protein.
Protein absorbtion takes up to 20% of the energy the protein delivers, while fat and carbs only takes 3% or so.
Then again when youre on a diet to lose fat and take a lot of protein, your body will spare much more muscle than if you didn't.
Because in an energydeficit the body usually wanna go for the muscle first and says "hey dude you dont need as much muscle it will be expensive to maintain them" but then it notices "oh but i get so much protein, it wont hurt to keep them, at least for now. lets go for that fatty tissue instead"
fattytissue is the LAST reserve. Muscle the FIRST. Because you don't need much muscle to have some sort of living. So cutting the muscle will nto only consume the energy that is set free by that act but also save more energy in the longrun, since it doesnt have to be fed anymore...
