If you're the kind of person that likes to occasionally sleep in or put off chores to do later you'll never make it. You also absolutely must have basic carpentry and agricultural knowledge and ability. Beyond that the only bit of modernity that I'd recommend is a large stockpile of antibiotics. You don't need modern medicine, but it would just be retarded to die from an infection because you got some dirt in a small cut.
