>>16587744>>16587754that law enforcement really are only able to solve murders that are perpetrated by someone that the victim knew, or was done extremely sloppily. The Moscow murders are an extremely good recent example of this. The police clearly have zero leads.
I can't remember which episode of the JRE podcast it was (really old ep) but it was a police detective talking about how the chance of solving a cold case is effectively zero if all the right conditions are met, and that law enforcement try their best to keep a reputation of competency.
>victim is completely randomly chosen and has 0% relation to killer>bonus points if victim is related to crime and others would have motives to kill them>there are no witnesses>killer commits the murder in a city other than their own, several hours away>killer doesn't use their car to arrive or depart the crime scene>killer limits exposure to crime scene to be as quick as possible>killer has a solid alibi>killer doesn't bring smart phone or other technology with them>killer does not leave murder weapon or evidence behind>killer immediately disposes of all clothing by burning it>killer has no prior criminal history and has no DNA on the record>killer has no affiliation with gangs
