Shes a saver and savers have been absolutely punished by bankers and wall street for the past few decades
She was used to putting money in the bank in the 70's and 80's and making a killing off of interest bearing savings accounts
it sickens me she sold a lot of her gold jewelry in the early 2000's when gold was nearly 15% of it's value in fiat dollars today, but am glad she took her savings and have it in gold at least now. Better late than never.
