So He came in the flesh in the person of Jesus Christ fulfilling dozens of prophecies from the beginning of His life to the very end having never sinned or deserving of the wrath of God, and died, suffering what we deserve for our sins (paid the ransom, served the sentence), was buried, and rose again on the third day. If you accept and trust in His payment and it alone in faith and not in your own works, His payment is made on your account and your sins are forgiven the same way someone's debts are forgiven if another person pays them. Then the Holy Spirit is given to sanctify and to break the shackles of sin and addiction in our life and prepare us for eternity with Him, because a holy God cannot dwell with anything that isn't holy (Hebrews 12:14).
