As for your second comment, Lindisfarne was established in 634AD. Christianity had reached critical mass in Britannia to the point that monasticism (unarmed weak men who purposefully starve themselves) could exist in peace. Many Saints had already lived and ascended, such as Saint Patrick. Charlemagne did not convert the islands. The islands were converted by Christ's Saints.
