All the actual problems - the world being ruled by an ancient cult of pedophile serial killers who answer to some kind of interdimensional demon overlord, the populace being completely mindfucked into absolutely debased ignorance and stupidity by said cult via the media, education system, medical system, etc., the degradation of art of all forms, true intellectual culture, spirituality, etc. - these have all been just as bad, or arguably even gotten less bad, since 2007 because at least more people are becoming more aware of the dire state of things. Things are just being brought to the surface.
When you have a virus, the symptoms don't show up until the immune response is well under way, but the infection is actually at its peak well before that point. The immune system is acting up now so you see the symptoms - Trump derangement / general derangement, break down of civility, wide scale culture wars, the rise of "conspiracy" culture, etc. - but the infection was there all along.
