>>9960886I don't know, there's more overlap in heathenry when it comes to west and east than south and north, even though there's still overlap there, too.
Elf just got turned into a phenomenon by tolkien, it was just a more idealized form of humanity, which the Germanics (and Celts) saw themselves as.
Just like Germani/Deutsch just means 'people' (and why Poles call us Niemcy, for example, the mutes, because we don't speak their language) it's a racial term but that only cropped up due to slowly getting into contact with others.
If you only know yourself then you're not special to yourself even if you hold yourself in high regard, as in, you see yourself as the standard.
So being Germanic once just meant "our people" or "we the people" and elves were part of that.
It was part of the ancestor worship, elves, even today, are depicted with poetry and stories and song, that's just a callback to the truth that you don't die, you are functionally immortal as long as someone keeps you in their memories.
I don't know how the meds do their thing that way, they probably have something equivalent or similar but I am simply not in the know about it.
I wish I was.
Just like I wish I was in the know about the islamic regions, they too had their real shit before islam, but I have no arguments to help them shake off the desert shomrim branch of judaism.
I really wish I did.
In fact I know more about blacks and mexican heathenry than middle eastern, and I know very little about black and mexican heathenry.
