>>11924156it all depends on what school you go to and what department you're in here. for example at the old school intro CS classes were piss easy while at the new one they're super brutal for this exact reason presumably. i think it usually comes down to how many non-majors take the class and how the professors feel about that.
for example i've had a lot of really tough introductory science courses because they're mandatory for all fields of study and actual science professors get pissy about english or art students blowing off their class, meanwhile i think that the early japanese courses are easy because the professors want it to be very accessible as a 4fun elective as well as not too tough on international relations/business students who have to get language credits.
well the only way that skipping bites me in the ass in that context is if i take the placement test, it shows i'm good to skip to japanese 3, i flunk it, and they make me move back to 2 instead of letting me just retake 3 which seems like a horribly unlikely series of events. honestly even i start out quite behind unless there's a HUGE difficulty spike with japanese 3 or it turns out that japanese 2 covers a massive amount of material from outside the book then i'm not at all concerned with my ability to get to the C minimum considering i studied at 150% pace for japanese 1 and got a perfect score in the class.
flexing is nice but i'm worried about seeming cocky when that isn't my intention
