>>21023522The pounding music of Club Xtacy is little more than a low, distant hum in Cassie Kade’s office. It could be completely inaudible if she so desired. Plenty of other rooms in the building were soundproofed, a necessity of the messier aspects of business. But Cassie enjoyed the gentle background noise created by her club. It was a constant but subtle reminder of her success. For every second that music was playing, people were paying to enter Xtacy, they were paying for drinks, and most importantly, they were paying for Obsidian Rush.
The knock on her door however is rather more immediate than the faint droning of music, and as Cassie sits with her phone pressed to her ear, her demeanour hardens. “Sorry Dmitri. I’ll talk to you later. I need to deal with something h… oh? A nightcap at your place? Yes, that sounds lovely. I’ll see you then.” She ends the call, then shouts toward the door. “Come in!”
Both Minakami twins enter, and Cassie’s expression is cold as she looks at them. “Kairi. Kimiko. My dealings with your father have been mutually profitable, and that is the only reason I’ve agreed to see you on such notice. This will be the one and only time I agree to see you purely for his sake, and any future dealings between us, or the absence of such, will be secured or squandered purely by your own merits… or lack thereof.”
Cassie snaps her fingers. “So talk. Tell me what you want, and make it good.”
