I've been thinking of writing a short story which takes place in 2030-2040
The setting would be a divided Finland, similar to East and West Germany. One side would be a semi-nationalist anti-globalist government, while the other an EU-USA puppet state. More specifically the setting would be Helsinki, which would be divided in half like Berlin. Basically here's what I've come up with for the time being:
>in the 2020's, a small group of nationalists sprung up somewhere north of Helsinki, miniscule and under the radar at the time
>the globalists have significantly less power due to Western countries fracturing and failing, and everything becoming just a colossal mess
>due to rapid decline of Finland the nationalist group I mentioned had grown to massive proportions
>the nationalist group started producing weapons, training the youth in combat and philosophy
>two years before the events of the story the nationalist group, with all of its branches around finland, started a revolution
>the leftist population is mentally and physically weak, unarmed and untrained and thus the nationalists with considerably less manpower manage to capture give or take half of Finland
>the two sides settle on a treaty which promises half of Helsinki to the nationalists and other stuff too (to be decided what exactly)
The story would then focus on a Finnish family living on either side. Any ideas? I'm going to write this anyways, so even if you're not interested you can come up with a story for your own country in this fictional universe and I'll mention it somewhere in the text.
