You can see that returns are normally distributed ... except for when tail risk occurs. Those are the days that are just exceptionally good or shitty.
Normally positive tail risk is good, but it can be a detriment if you're writing options (eg capped upside, opportunity cost (nobody should write options with unlimited downside)).
