Tried and tested methods, and universal truths and natural laws that govern human behavior, based on the experience of generations, taught through allegories that make it easier for people to understand and relate to their everyday lives. Shit like that isn't going to keep changing no matter what era you're in. Just because you have some fancy toys to play with today, doesn't mean the human condition has suddenly changed. Your fundamental needs and nature are still the same as that of some ancient Greek, Egyptian or Indian who lived 3000 years ago. But of course a "muh individualistist" living an atomized, self indulgent life wouldn't get that.
