You decide, maybe its an hour, maybe its two.But start a daily routine, have time limits on stuff you do. Get up and go to bed each day at apporximately the same time, eat well, dont smoke, stay healthy. gaurd your health, exercise daily.
Now with that out of the way we can talk about your situation. Keep your job. Im worth over a million bux fren,all i have is a high school diploma, but one thing I always have is ajob. I even worked at walmart for 3 years. Some income is always better then no income. Stay cool, dont lose your temper. looking back at my life, i regret the times I hurt people for no good reason, even myself.
As for college or Uni or trades or the army .... it really doesnt matter. you pursue slowly the things you want from life. If your really fixed on a STEM degree, then go for it, you'll find a way. The University often has summer jobs programs, co-op jobs programs and other stuff. You can always pump gas or stock shelves or whatever in the spare time. Stay healthy and stay away from drugies and degenerates and your life will slowly improve. I know when your young its seems like its gonna take forever, and your never going to make it, but your just impatient and young.
As for convincing your father, pace and lead. First you must agree with some part of his idea, then you can lead him to your idea. Its the art of influencing 101. You cant just punch a horse in the face, jump on it and ride it ... you got to feed it some carrots, walk it around the pen a bit, let it wear the saddle ... pace it. Pace your father a bit. He genuinely loves you, in a way no one else ever will. Not your friends, not your wife, not even your children. Never forget that. his advice might have worked for him, but it might not work for you, and in the end you must be the author of your story.
