I think main reason they're not letting go of these ridiculous theories is their grant money and personal pride.
If the old academic cunts suddenly admitted that yes human civilization is +30k years old and all of this stuff is way older than thought, they'd have to revamp everything and step down as the rulers of the academic world.
We have seen this shit so many times when a prevailing theory has been challenged. The old coots are unwilling to go with the newer ideas, until they're practically forced to or until they die and someone with genuine curiosity takes their place.
