God is basically telling the Hebrews that he's going to go call his brother and terrorize the Hebrews because they betrayed him and forsook him like they always do.
The Canaanites all feared and hated Mot, and nobody worshiped him, so this is saying "I'm more loyal to the most hated God than I am to the people who betray me". God is ruthless and decimates people who forsake him, especially people who perform Canaanite rituals or tolerate the Canaanites. (Numbers 25).
