We have a good amount of K98's in the US as well, don't know why though, haven't looked at prices and availability now but about 10 years ago a German Mauser K98 ran for about $300-400 and a good Yugo Mauser K98 ran for about $200-300, 8mm Mauser ammo is hard to come by though, which is why I'd rather get a Rem 700 in .308 win. Mosins are still cheap and pretty available though, and Russia still makes the ammo for it and imports it.
